Before heavy rains, you need to prepare your vehicle if your car’s wipers do not work while it’s raining cats and dogs!. So to avoid these problems during monsoon season, you need to prepare a pre-monsoon checklist for your car. You must be confused about where to start? Right? This article will let you know what to do to ride carefully in rain.
Tips to keep in mind while driving a car in the monsoon season
- The simple way is to clean the car’s exterior which, removes all the dirt. You should make a habit of cleaning your car before driving in the monsoon that ensures that all the dirt, muck, and leaves are wiped off. If not, then the dust will stick to the exterior of the car which will damage the paint and cause rust also.
- If you want to keep the underbody of your car free from moister and dirt, you can spray a mixture of petrol and diesel which will also protect mechanical moving parts and the car from rust. Only avoid using it on engine components which can cause fire and also avoid it on brake disc otherwise it can cause loss of braking.
- Wet and muddy shoes can make your car’s interior dirty which smells bad. Instead of using carpets and washing them again and again, the best and the cheap way is to use newspapers that absorb water instantly.
- The headlamps of the car should be crystal clear for better visibility in rain. The easiest to clean the headlights is to use toothpaste, only white toothpaste has to be used. Apply it to blurry headlamps, rub it in a circular motion, and wipe it off with a cloth. This will definitely make the headlights crystal clear. Wiper and washer conditions should be checked. Make sure that the rubber is not hard which will result in scratching, also check if the wipers are working at different speeds smoothly or not. The windshield washer bottle should be fully-filled, you can also use a little bit of detergent to make the glass oil-free.
- Tyres play an important role in a vehicle as they’re in direct contact with roads, so you should check if the depth of the tyre is good enough. If not, then it may skid on slippery surfaces. Tyres should be inflated as per the recommendation by the manufacturer including the spare tyre.
Is it advisable to cover your car during the monsoon period?
People when buying a new car, rush to purchase a car cover first! While the car’s cover may prevent it from dust, leaves and rainwater may flow from the car. But, you must know when you park your car in an open area, sun rays fall on it and because of that, the paint of car’s exterior can be damaged.
