Cruising a convertible car on road is something that feels luxurious and alluring. A convertible car has uniqueness in traveling without roof and if you have it, that means you've spent a good amount of money. Now apart from buying it and enjoying the luxurious ride, in addition, it includes maintenance which is the most important part. Convertible tops need a bit more care than normal ones. There are two factors: "Appearance and Quality" which totally depends upon, how well the car is cared for. No doubt, nowadays the material used in soft tops is more durable and beautiful. But, to make it look beautiful like always it needs a little special care and as long as you keep it clean, you'll protect it from cracking and fading.

Simply, drive-through washes and car washes is not alone enough to maintain a convertible, as only car washes on a regular basis will lead to costly repairs of leakage and some other replacement. Atleast a convertible car should be washed every one or two weeks on average. If your car top starts looking faded because of stains and soil, it indicated that it is the right time to go deep!- deeper into the fabric where you're not only cleaning the dirt out of billions of tiny fibers that make it look untidy or faded.

Firstly, start with the exterior detailing i.e tires and wheels first. After that, comes your convertible top, saturate the top with the upholstery cleaner then massage it in a circular motion with a sponge, foam applicator, or microfiber towel especially, on the highly soiled areas where you'll spot a lot of dirt or soil in the foam as you work. Remember, don't let the cleaner dry into the fabric, make sure you work with the cleaner consistently until the consistent finish. After that rinse the entire top with the flooding hose and then convert it into the spray so that the water can rinse all the top fiber and dry it with the microfibre towel.

Things to be avoided while deep cleaning a convertible car

  • You should avoid using a brush on the fabric while cleaning the convertible. Using brushes can result in the fabric looking worn out and old.
  • Using cotton fiber can be problematic instead of that you should use microfiber.
  • Never use two cleaning tools at the same time.
  • Never leave a convertible down for all night.
  • You should not wash the convertible top in direct sunlight.
  • Make sure that you do not use glass cleaning products when the roof of your car has a plastic rear window.
  • You should not wash the convertible top on breezy days. The breeze can cause the over-spraying of the product and also stirs up dirt and dust which makes the cleaning process more difficult

Detailing of a car is not only about cleaning, it also includes the protection of the surface of the car. By applying a vinyl protectant you can retain the clean soft top. When you'll massage the protectant with a microfiber, immediately you'll notice a deeper rich color and by treating your convertible car like this you can preserve the top of your car from cracking, aging, and fading. Maintaining the convertible car is easy if you know what additional maintenance it needs and what type of material is used in the making of the convertible top. Using the correct techniques and the right type of cleaners can help it to stay in top-notch condition.

Your soft top can give you the best services if it is cared for properly. On the canvas top when the water stops beading that means the protection from the water and sun is gone. So time to time maintenance of your convertible car is very much necessary.
